Need HLR Clutch Packs

Post by jgbanshee » Tue Mar 11, 2008 2:26 pm

Is it cheaper to repair or replace the clutch packs in the tranny of my 450 crawler? I figured out that the hub immediately in front of my low/reverse clutch pack free-wheeling when I put the tranny in Reverse. I think due to the inner diameter teeth on the plates in the clutch pack broken. I got 150psi on the gauge in every range when pressure testing initially. Should I replace all the other clutch pack plates during this time?

If you don't mind doing the work, probably cheaper rebuilding your own. As long as you are in there, fix it right so you don't have to go into it again.

Where can I get new parts for the clutch packs? What is a reasonable price?

If you have the part numbers look at the ag dealers as well as the industrial dealers .Replace the piston seals as well as the shaft seals if piston is woren down in seal area be prepaired to replace it also.I always figure that it is enough work to get there just replace anything that is in need of replacement .Check the steel Plates for warping on a straight edge .When they get hot they will dish like crazy and need to be replaced if not perfictly flat .Digitup.

I have at least some of the discs availalbe, maybe all of them. When you get the part numbers you need, e-mail them to me, and I will check on pricing.
