how to take track apart

Post by nathan619 » Sat Jul 18, 2009 12:39 pm

On a 450, how does the track come apart? I've beat and beat on what I think is the "master" pin and it hardly moves at all with me hitting it with a 20lb hammer. I've hit and hit and so far it's only moved about 1/8 inch.

I didn't see any pins at all that had maybe a "C" lock pin.

I finally got the track apart after hours of beating. I never did see a pin with a clip on the backside and I turned the track around and visually looked and cleaned every single pin and still no clip. The only thing different about the pins was one had a hole in the ends of it both on the inside and the outside. It was a small hole about 1/8" in diameter.

Should I get a pin with a clip on the back to go back in or just beat that pin back in when I finish?

Just did my 450b. You did right pin. Beat on mine cold for couple hours one evening, nothing... next day built simple clamp from strap and all-thread, heated link with torch and had pin out in 15 min. Put back together without heating link with no trouble.
