Hello, the lack of a oil cooler on the oil filter base leads me to believe its a 202. All the 219s I have seen have had the oil cooler.

That is an old Mannheim Block and you will need the bore and stroke if nothing else is known I take it that is what the M is fore before the number .The rest of the 5306 I am not sure about .Digitup.

Thanks Dititup, so my next ? will a 4-219 or 4-239 bolt rite in??? Or is it a creature of its own. I have found a 4-219 with a turbo and its reasonable but wanna make sure I can use it... Mother Deere has no answers with serial numbers... Thanks for any help!!

It should fit right in a hole for a 4-219 or 4-239.A turbo depending on what exhaust manifold was used may be a small problem though .Digitup.

Not all 4-219 had oil coolers, my 450b didn't. I put a 4-039 in my 450b out of a air compressor. The 2 problems I had where the power steering pump is in the way of the water lines for the oil cooler and the front pulley didn't bolt up to the hydraulic pump. Everything else interchanged.

I had the same engine in my 400A Backhoe sold in Sweden. At the moment I am restoring a 4.219 engine to replace it (cracked block as well, but because of too much force). The M53 seems to be exactly the same as a 4.202. I think the only diference might be the injection pump? Here in Europe most of these engines seem to have the CAV or Rototdiesel pump (even on the 4.219)
