450D seat frame

Post by ridgerambler » Mon Feb 20, 2012 4:43 pm

I need the seat frame for my 450D. It is JD part #AT49463 and I think it is the same as the 450C, at least the later models. The entire thing was missing when I got the machine. Anybody out there have one they can part with? I can be reached at ridgerambler@hotmail.com and I can provide a phone # is somebody has one. Thanks!! Tom

I think those 450D frames are the same seat frames that are on a 350C. Maybe even the older 350s. I know that later 350Ds had a different seat. Have you tried to find a salvage dealer in your area? They would be your best bet for this.

450D seat frame

Post by ridgerambler » Tue Feb 21, 2012 8:46 am

I have tried local salvage dealers and have also tried those in PA and TX that have web sites--no luck so far. I think the frame may be the same on 350-350C; 450-450D; 455D; 550; 555 and 555A--at least the same seat cushions fit those models according to my local dealer. I was in hopes that someone on the forum may have an old frame they no longer use. If I cannot find one, I can make one, but would rather find a salvage one if possible.

Sense you are willing to go out state with your search... Try Zimmerman Tractor in Versailles MO. ( 573 - 378 - 7210 ) If they don't have it they may be able to give you another place to look. I know they ship all over the U.S. and are great to work with. They are Amish Minanites and don't exactly carry on with great conversation, ( Blunt and to the point ) but they are great people to work with. I have used them several times over the years.
You might also give these guys on here a little more time as there may be someone who hasn't seen your post yet. Good Luck! :D

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think partway through the 350C run the seat frame changed. Early machines you had to remove some bolts in the angles under the frame to change position. The later machines use a seat with adjustable rails and a lever under the cushion. The part number you list fits the early 350Cs (not sure how 450s are set up). I picked one of these up a while back at Wengers of Myerstown in PA (1-800-552-5080) . Not sure if they have another one available but it was only around $100.

Just to clear things up, the change to the later seat was at s/n 716590, although listed in the 350C's book, that late of a s/n would be as Leonard says, in the 350D run.

I have the seat taken apart on our 1975 450C and dealing with rebuilding the padding and covering. Don't remember any adjustment off the top of my head. Only remember 4? 3/8" bolts holding the frame down. Can check and provide pics if someone would like.
