front cross member bushings

Post by rock digger » Sun Apr 08, 2012 8:30 pm

Since my manual does not show a good pic. of these, are they tapered to fit in the crossmember? Mine appear to be about 1inch in diamiter and square shouldered under a washer and bolt, but seem to be tight. Is this the way they should look? Thanks ,Rock Digger
There is always another rock under this one!

that's the way they look. The holes should not be taperd. The design was for the crossmember to be able to move. If your crossmember is wallowed out some, that is the normal progression to where you eventually either replace the crossmember with the post 1975 part or you weld down the one you have.
