Starter for 350 Crawler Dozer

Hi All, I am new to the forum Just bought a 350 dozer. Need info on replacement starters. Will the starter for a 350B work on a straight 350 ??
I think the info I have gleaned so far indicate a delco 28mt

Any Advice will be greatly appreciated

Is the starter missing? I just had mine rebuilt. 200 bucks, but it's "brand new."

The starter is there it just clicks when you turn the key, shorting across the solenoid produces the same result

Read this post, mine would click 25 times before starting. I bought a new one list in this post and got it three days. good luck

Before you go and pay for an expensive starter, try just replacing the solenoid first. They are the common old Delco small block starter solenoid and any parts store should have one cheap. Go the cheap route first and then look at your starter. You can also loosen the lock nut on the main battery lead post on your existing solenoid. Push the stud inside the cap enough to be able to turn the stud 180 degrees. Pull it back out until you feel it set back into its locked position and then tighten the lock nut. I've done this at least a thousand times. Most of the time it is usually either a grounding problem or the solenoid when these starters do this.

I have the new style fuel pump shown in the photos, looks like quite a project. I think I would get a new tisko pump before trying those modifications, or have my original starter rebuilt.

For your tip on it being a defective solenoid. I tested the voltage going to the starter from the solenoid while turning the key and had zero volts, so this will be my starting point
