jd450b crawler loader valve train

Post by gary » Fri Dec 07, 2012 4:59 pm

I'm doing a complete rebuild on my 4219 engine. I just bolted the rocker arm shaft on and set the valve clearance. I noticed that where the rocker arm contacts the valve stem cap, that its not centered over the valve stem cap. If I took a measurement from the center of the rocker arm contact point and the center of the valve stem cap they would be off about 3/32 of an inch toward the intake side of the head. My question is this normal or is something wrong. Thanks, Gary

Gary,
It has been a long time sense I was in a Deere engine. However I am pretty sure the rocker should be centered with the valve cap. I would check the rack and make sure it is assembled correctly and that all parts are accounted for and are not worn badly.
