Looses power and stalls

Post by 450c » Tue Feb 26, 2013 9:25 am

Hi all. My 450B started acting up yesterday. I was clearing snow for about an hour when the rpm started falling off and the machine stalled. After sitting a couple of minutes I restarted it. It ran fine for a few minutes than slowly stalled again. I let it sit a minute than rstarted and drove a little way than it stalled again. I did this a couple more times to get it to a spot I could look at it. The fuel filters are both new, replaced last fall so it should be getting a good supply of fuel. Has anyone had this issue in the past?

Hi: Did you check the fuel tank venting? Just a thought. Paul

I ran the machine with the fuel cap off and it still stalled so its not venting. Yes it is a roosa master pump. I'll search mouse terds.
Thanks Mike

It has been sugested that the John Deere injector pump manual can be downloaded for free off the internet. I can't seem to find it. Has anyone downloaded it, if so do you have the link or web site?

Return line fitting

A plugged return line fitting on the top of the injection pump will also cause this issue.

Thanks Jason. I'm going to have to get the manual or at least a schematic of the pump to identify the return line.

Return line

Post by JWB Contracting » Wed Feb 27, 2013 9:43 am

On the pump, it is the metal line coming vertically and directly out of the top of the injection pump and there's only one of them.

Loosen the line from the fitting and the fitting from the pump. Fire it up and see if it continues to loose power and stall.

My dad and I had a similar problem on a Deere at tractor and went as far as changing the injection pump (using the original pumps fitting) and the problem continued. I cracked the return line and it worked.

Could be this simple of fix.[/img]
