Oiling and greassing a 450

Could someone help me for the moment with an oil chart ? I think you call it that way ( I'm Dutch living in France) for a 450 AC ( probably a straight or a B model 450 i the States ( or Canada ) So I would like to know, before I can order a manual, where to fill up and where to grease with what oil, what to look for general basic maintenance.

Trying to find out with which exact US model mine corresponds before I can order the right manuals....... If anyone has a maintenance chart please sent it to me. jeroen.duijndam@gmail.com Thanx !

Hello and welcome to the forum. You need to find your machines serial number if you can. Most are located on the front seat support, usually right behind your left ankle as you sit in the seat on older John Deere 350s and 450s. Some are located on the front of the battery box and they will be stamped into a Aluminum tag. It's hard for us to help when we do not know the exact machine you have. An "Operators" manual and a "Tech" manual will be the most beneficial to you.

I do know the serial number, It is an European market machine 450 AC 193731 L The problem is that nobody knows with which US market number JD this corresponds..... So would like to order a manual, but as long as I don't know for sure....... So that's why in the mean time would like to get an oil and grease chart for either a straight 450 or a B. Don't think there will be much difference on this matter. So if someone could help me......

Jeroen-

The straight 450s and 450B are both "dry" steeering clutch machines, so if you are positive it doesn't have wet steering clutches then the general lube requirements would be typical. I referenced a JD (Australia) website for these fluids:

It should be noted that I have indicated the JD products but that there are other aftermarket (cheaper but equally performing) brands that could serve as well- although for HLR transmissions many on this board have recommended using the JD product only.

Engine (if diesel): Torq-Gard (heavy duty engine oil)

Now the only thing missing is to know where to find all the plugs and grease nipples , the filter numbers and how much oil.....

It might sound stupid, but on a Komatsu PC 150 excavator I had, I found after a year or so a broken grease nipple that I had never spotted before....

So if you don't have a piece of paper to tell you what to look for you might miss the obvious...

So hopefully someone can sent me a copy for the moment???

I just got an OPERATORS MANUAL JOHN DEERE 350B CRAWLER and it shows all the locations for the grease zerts and also the drain and fill plugs. This may not be true for all of the JD manuals. I got the electronic version (downloadable) and it was only $16 that way and I got it immediately. Maybe I am missing something in the conversation also
