Mid 70's 350B slow to engage reverse especially when warm.

Post by breakaway » Fri May 24, 2013 8:38 am

Hi all. I have owned the dozer for about 4 years and am having an issue with reverse. When pushing down a grade and reversing back out,it is slow to engage, especially when warm.Steering is fine and foreward power is strong, but when engaging reverse,it will hesitate and attempt reverse and sometimes won't move. This is in any range.(I am usually in low)When on level ground,it is fine.Fluid levels are fine and fluid is clear. Ideas? Thanks. Mark

Edit: I may have posted this in the wrong forum..sorry..maybe a mod can move it?

Could be similar to what I went through a few months ago.

Check out this thread:

The easiest test to see if its a restricting orifice issue, try this simple test...
Push in the foot "clutch", shift into reverse, and let out the foot clutch.
If this makes reverse engage firmly, you need to back out the screw in the restricting orifice until your forward to reverse and reverse to forward shift time (using the reverser) is between 1 and 1.5 seconds. (Check the tech manual for specifics.)

I hope that is your 350B's problem because it is a zero dollar fix (and we don't get many of those around here).

Ok,thanks.I never use the clutch,so I will try that. Zero dollar fix sounds nice! I ordered a service manual and need to replace the batteries,so it will be a few days before I can try it out. Mark
