What do you guys use to remove the starter bolts/nuts on this dozer. I cannot use a swivel head socket due to tight fit between housing and nuts. You know it is a tight fit and before buying all kinds extensions or sockets, I thought you guys could help me

Deere has a special wrench to use to reach these bolts.

Thanks for the reply. Now, do any of you have the starter wrench you would sell? Price? Thanks David

Check with a Snap-On dealer if you have one locally. The Deere part number listed there can be ordered by your dealer through their special tools ordering system.

Thanks very much. Just thought I would remove and have rebuilt because it is beginning to drag some while starting. Thanks again...

Couple other thoughts. A chrome swivel socket is a lot smaller diameter than an impact if that is what you are using.
Can you get a straight enough shot to use a wobble extension? Not a lot of degrees of angle, but they have saved my butt in the past.

wrench

Post by David Rigsby » Sun Jan 12, 2014 4:52 pm

I was able to find the JD wrench for $30 bucks so I ordered for less trouble. I did try swivel heads etc. but was unable to get anything to fit on with any of the sockets without grinding it down. Thanks This has been very helpful...

I have used a 12 point close end wrench. You can only get about a 1/16 turn LOL I sprayed it down good with WD40 and clean off threads good so i can use my fingers as soon as possible. Good luck!!
thanks Paul
