They should be current from Deere, I would buy a new one rather than try to make one.

Wow, $85 for a bolt. That is a bit steep. I own a complete CNC machine shop so making one is not an issue.

you just need to make a bushing with the detente in it and weld it to the underside of the bolt head

Guessing from the manual it has 4 detents... I can make a press fit for the detent ring.

Should only be one indent, which will indent every 180 degrees of rotation if that makes sense.

The adjustment instructions make more sense now as well with only one detent position and 90° to that a flat that puts more tension on the brake band. Then when you back off 1/4 turn back to the detent you get a preset release of the brake band.

You may find that once you go back 1/4 turn, you will need to go another 1/2. I have had the brake be too tight only backing off the 1/4 turn.

Thanks for the heads up on that, what symptom does a too tight brake have?

Thanks

What I have found, and it may be more relevant with a new brake band is when driving it gets hot and tends to bind up if a little to tight. I had a 1010 almost come to a stop the band got so hot. Backed it off one half turn, maybe a full turn, and problem solved.
