Been a while since I posted. A couple of weeks ago I had a periodic problem with the right track not engaging. Got my dozer 4 years ago, and it did not have the plate below the seat where the hour meter is mounted. I mounted a new meter in the faceplate where the cigarette lighter plug was.
Turned out the problem was crap (leaves, twigs, etc) building up under the seat and slightly blocking the linkage connecting the right side lever to the steering valve. I had planned to rebuild the right side clutch, but the fix was to clean out the accumulated crap. Next project will be to put a plate below the seat. Live and learn.

Steve, it has to be one of the best outcomes when you have the big fix planned and then it is something simple. Dejavu, I bought a 450b that had a bad steering clutch. It was simply way, way, out of adjustment. They should have bought the manual. 10 hour round trip and winch on and pull off, It sat for weeks until I was ready to tackle the job. Then....when I finally had time to look at it closely, it was working like a charm in an hour ! I have had it the other way as well so, I will take the good with the bad.
