Hi,
Pin and Bushing.
To explain further:
The fore and aft ends of each track link are held by the bushing on one end, the pin on the other. As the bushings rotate against the sprocket teeth, they wear. As the pins rotate inside the bushings, they wear.
So, there is a stopgap to tighten up the tracks by using a press to remove each pin and bushing and turn them over so the unworn sides are now being used.
This is cheaper, of course, than replacing all the pins and bushings. It does shorten the track back up, but there is still some snake which remains from the worn sides, even though those sides are not under load.
Stan
Edit:
For some unexplainable reason, I wrote 'left and right' when I meant 'fore and aft' with regards to the track links. Maybe I was also thinking about swapping the sprockets left and right after turning the pins and bushings. That puts unworn surfaces all in contact to more-or-less double the service life before one has to buy all new bits.
