I have a 1969 350 loader since 1989 it's getting tired so I updated to a 1979 350 c
have it in the garage going through it
I remember reading a thread a year or two ago someone asked what changes you would make to your machine one change that I recall was to weld the trackrail to the crossarm The bolts and bushings need to be replaced on the 79 I am wondering if it is a good idea to weld Has anyone welded them The bushings were put there to take the ware rather than damaging the casting If it is welded will the casting crack when the rails shift
If anyone knows the heading on the thread I would like to review it
thanks this I a great site I just receintly registered but have been following the threads for several years

I would not weld the track frame to the cross member . The cross member is made out of cast & the track frame is metal . I worked at a jd INDUSTIAL dealership for twelve years and have see it tried never see the weld hold. The track frame has bolts & bushing in it so it have some give . If the machine has a lot of hours it there will be play around the shaft back by the sprocket . This will cause more movement in the track frame . This is my opinion and what I have see. All older crawler with several hours will have play in the track frame .If the bolts are there I would worry about it
