Today, my 450 C threw a rod and punch a hole in the crankcase. After inframe rebuilting approx 30 hrs ago, I don't know what happened. Looks like the rod bolts broke from what I can see.
Anyways, anyone know of a good source for a rebuilt 4219 motor. What should I expect to pay? I really do not want to build another one.
Thanks, Bill

hi bill, did u reuse your rod bolts? i just took the 219 in one of my 450c's apart. a friend was over helping that has rebuilt many of them, and told me never use those rod bolts over again. as for a rebuilt motor, i am guessing 2 to 3k, probably less if u find a good used one.

bill, u lookin for a 219 or a 219 with the turbo? i have a friend with a jd 410 backhoe, motor runs good, but the transmission case is cracked. i believe its a 219, i can ask if he wants to sell it if u are interested. i have a 219 block, just striped it for the crank, could sell u that if interested.

I wonder if the old motor can be saved? Although I have never used them, there is a Block and Head welder on Lenox Avenue that might give the old engine a chance. While it is down, and your looking, it might not hurt to give them or their competition a call. In todays throw away society, that is a dying business, but those guys have been there awhile (or at least the building has). Someone that has the right experience can give you a lot better idea on saving the old motor, but I have seen several motors with plated sidewalls where rods decided to find some fresh air.
Good luck with it,
