Leonard, glad to know you are still around to keep us straight. I, for one, have missed your info and history of crawlers.

Nice to see you post LeonardL. Beautiful work... is that how tall the grouser bars are on a loader track? If so mine are really worn.

Hi,

Well, that isn't what I had pictured in my mind. Glad Leonard knew what it was you really needed to know. :)

leonard, thanks for the information..now when I look at it I can actually see and understand. No, I have not gotten a rear main seal yet, have been trying to determine which one I need. any ideas on a part number for the new seal?

And thanks everyone for the compliments.

So THAT is what my machine is supposed to look like! Is the cleat on the track (grouser, is it?) the stock height? Mine are about 5/16" tall!

Great looking machine!

Your Grousers or Toes should look like these in the picture when new. It depends of course on which pad you have. Some loaders had what I called a "Three Toed Street Pad". These are basically a flat pad with three, shorter and fatter grousers across the face of the pad. Ideally I always tried to either replace pads or re-toe them when they are down to a half inch. Some mechanics I know would say three quarters of an inch. It also depends on the pad wear in general. If the the face and heel of the pad is worn off or bent, then total replacement is in order. It depends also on how much you plan to use the machine. If it is only once in a while, then you can get by with pads that are worn more. However if you are using the machine every day than replace them.
