I'm changing the filters on my 450B and I can't seem to get fuel to the rear filter (empty bowl). I'm priming forever. You mentioned that it takes a while to do this. Do you remember about how long it took? My hand is getting tired. I do have fuel in the first filter bowl.
Thanks,
Les
Hello Les,
I hope by now you've managed to get fuel out of the rear bleeder (if not, I bet your hand is getting REALLLLLLY TIRED by now! 8'). But if not, something you might check would be whether or not you remembered to turn back on the fuel at the valve on the tank.
Have you had success yet?
Neil

Neil,
Thanks for your response. I found my error! I didn't install the gasket that goes under the filter mount head! I
had installed the two gaskets that go on the top and bottom of the filters themselves, but not the ones that go in the head unit. The filters were so tight to the head that the fuel had no place to go. That little rubber gasket is important! Who knew?
Cheers,
Les

Make sure the camshaft is in the right position to get a full stroke on the fuel pump primer handle. When the cam is in the "pushed" position you won't get any or much stroke with the primer lever and you will pump forever.

As a matter of fact, I did have to pulse the ignition switch to move the shaft lobe. The resistance when priming properly is definitely discernible.
