STUCK TRACK ADJUSTER
Hi I have a John Deere 350 dozer . The track adjuster is stuck have it off and have put wd40 in it for two days and then put in a small press and it did move some. Is it ok to put heat on this or just have buy a new one? Has anyone ever had one apart and what's inside? I don't have a torch but could get it hot in a fire. THANKS LARRY
Lavoy have you got any track adjuster never seen any on your parts page?

YES you can use heat I would go to home depot ect. and get a MAPP torch NOT PROPANE.... MAPP is hotter and heat the end of the tube and about half way down where the rod goes in while putting pressure on it with a GOOD grease gun and that should do it (may need to do this a few times heat/cool and use penetrate between cycles ) ...... as to what is inside there is an o-ring near the end of the rod in the tube
2010 with 622 dozer with mod. 35 ripper and a 2010 with 622 dozer bought in 1969 and a 2010 loader with drott and mod. 36 ripper
Safest is to hook up a grease gun directly to the zerk hole and push the rod all the way out. Then hone the bore and put in a new cup and seal.

Still working on the track adjuster got it out 2 or so inches. But now the grease just comes out around the pipe so going to try to find a press and work on it some more. First I think I got it all the way in then with grease got it back out 2 inches. Can get it to turn with a 4 foot pipe wrench and my fat ass standing on the wrench. Don't know how far that the pipe goes in but when I had it in it was 13 3/4 sticking out of the housing now its 16 inches.
Wish I knew how long that tube was when its all the way out?
Drloch Yes I did split the track never could get it to compress . Working on this in the woods so have to go back and forth to home to do some of the work,. Thanks for the help guys.
