350c winch install
Good evening everyone. I have an 81 model 350c. I just acquired a 3315 winch for it. All is well, except the hydraulic filter is in direct line with the fuel tank sediment cup. My uncle said they make an adapter kit to move the sediment cup. But I'm not sure how that's possible. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

I don't have an answer for you but moving the cup on the tank doesn't sound right. I was under the impression they would bolt up if you have the right winch mounting adapters between the winch and crawler. Hopefully someone with a 3315 winch on a 350c will have the answer on this.
Re: 350c winch install
Hello Sir,
Something fishy here. A 3315 should mount without difficulty. Are you certain it is a 3315? As Jim stated, do you have the extra brackets to mount the winch to a 350? Could it be the filter is mounted in the wrong position, or with a non-original bracket. Never heard about relocating the sump. Keep use posted. Pics if possible. Best regards, Bruce

I can't seem to get a picture to load. But the tag says 3315. And the PTO gear is offset to one side and lines up with the PTO shaft on the 350. The mounting brackets are present as well. I've actually found a few pics online that show the filter on the left side of the winch. Which places it in direct line with the sump (I originally called it a sediment cup).

Warrior0677,
I just sent you a PM through this site with an email address for me you can send your photos to and I will post them for you so as to move this along for you until you can get set up on the picture server.
Jim

Do you have a photo of the back of your 350C to go with this?

Unfortunately I dont. I'll have to take a picture tomorrow and post it. I can confirm that the sump is offset to left of the fuel tank.

Re: 350c winch install
Definitely a 3315 with offset winch drive. And 350 brackets. Most filters I have seen have a bracket/mount where the filter spins on from under the winch. And the filter is vertical, not horizontal. I have seen a few pics of this horizontal style, but can’t attest to it’s application. More research to come. Off topic, do you have the spool valve.
Re: 350c winch install
Ah ha. Review of the jdparts site shows all 350’s with winch as having the filter mount as you have. 450’s with the 3325 have the vertical mount. Further digging reveals that your filter mount is in the wrong location. If you look really close there are three bolt holes on the “passenger” side of the winch. The current place your filter is mounted is were the rotary control would have been mounted. Lots of theses little square rotary control boxes leaked, failed, and were replaced/warrantied to the more reliable spool valve. I suspect the prior owner had this winch hooked to a spool valve b/c the black hydraulic lines are present. The rotary valve uses few hoses. Bruce

Re: 350c winch install
Bruce, I did look at the same idea you had. But there are only 2 bolt holes on the "passenger" side of my housing. Not 3. Also, if you look closely at my photo vs. the one with the rotary valve, the valve is too far to the right. My filter sets directly above the winch PTO gear. The rotary valve is further to the right. Also, let's say for argument sake you're correct and the mount needs to be moved, where would the oil enter the mount/filter? I see only one hose coming from the mount which appears to be an "exit" port. So wouldn't the fluid enter the center of the mount? I haven't removed the mount yet. So I'm unsure of the schematics. I habe a full service manual on this machine which includes the winch, but no schematics on placement of the filter/mount.
Another note, there is no indication that the mount has ever been located on the other side. Please note, I'm not discounting what you said, I'm just making other observations. Perhaps Deere made a different fuel tank. One that had the sump located on the "passenger"side to allow room for the filter to fit.
And it's a spool valve. Mounts under the seat.

Re: 350c winch install
I have been looking at this, researching, and have the same thoughts as Bruce. It appears the filter is on the wrong side and it was plumbed to use a remote valve instead of the original winch mounted, cable operated valve (which should be where the filter is now).
Re: 350c winch install
So we keep looking. I was just looking at the fuel tanks in the parts catalogs. It appears the straight 350's and some of the 350B's used different fuel tanks than the C's. Three different tank numbers appear in the C's parts catalog, one of which is in the B's catalog. The tank drawings show some differences, maybe that is part of the issue.
