450c died when shifting/clutch. Won’t start
450c died when shifting/clutch. Won’t start
I was pushing logs with my 450c and had been half clutching to shift from forward to reverse and back. I tried it without the clutch once but came to a full stop between shifting from neutral to forward. As soon as I shifted in to gear something popped (not very loud) and the motor died like it was out of full. Now it turns over fine but won’t crank. Like it’s not getting fuel. I just recently changed all fluids and filters (including fuel filter) but nothing appears to be leaking. Any ideas?

Compression, air, and fuel and she'll fire...check these three and you find the issue.
I had an ip do this once...snap of death is what I call it.

Ended up being fuel. See pic for the culprit. I haven’t read in to this yet but this wire broke that goes to a fuel control valve (not sure what it’s really called). Maybe controlled while key is on or something. Not real sure.

Yup...selonoid. Opens and closes with the key switch. If ever in doubt just run a wire from the positive battery post to check its function.

Thanks guys. Good to know. There is a negative wire run with the positive but it wasn’t hooked up. There is a terminal on the solenoid for it but I suppose it’s not required for correct operation.
Re: 450c died when shifting/clutch. Won’t start
A ground is required; however it may not need a wire run to it. Many had just a small metal ground strap between one of the solenoid terminals and a pump head screw. I've got two 2030s here with the ground strap between the terminal your hot wire hooks to and the left front pump head screw. The hot wire is on the terminal closest to the engine block. On yours, look towards the engine block, in line with the terminal the wire broke off from, and you will see another terminal. In your photo it looks like the ground strap may be there, between that terminal and the front corner screw of the injection pump head.
