I just had a problem like this with my straight 450 loader. I don't know how similar the loader hyd tank and filter are between the 350 and 450 but....
I was only able to raise the cast cover of my filter housing about 3/8" from the top of the tank. The previous owner had not fully tightened the long bolt securing the filter upward to the housing (or it had backed off) and the filter cocked to one side preventing the filter coming out of the hole in the tank. Because of the limited room, there was no way I could center the filter to remove it, so I had to hammer some screw drivers into the filter to allow access for long vise grip pliers to gain access to the long filter securing bolt. Once it came off, the housing was free and I fished out the filter remnants from the tank.
I found that the screen filter inside the tank which screens particles in the pump suction line to be plugged with the remnants of a previous filter element. So I concluded that it had been a problem in the past and the filter was carelessly installed.

I assume you are talking about the Hydraulic tank filter?speedbear wrote:I just pulled the canister type filter from my straight 450. Where is best place to get a replacement? There is no number on the old filter, so I don't even know what to ask for??
IF your filter is 7 1/4" long (early 65) it looks like it is DEERE only #AT24274 ..................... IF it is 9 1/2" long (late 65 up) it is DEERE # AT45422 .... OR NAPA # 7601 ..........OR WIX # 57601....... OR BALDWIN # PT471 ....... YOU can also check with Lavoy

Re: hydraulic filter in tank jd 350 loader
So does anybody actually have the two "2" hydraulic filter numbers for the JD 350 Dozer 1969 model ? I have the books for my dozer and it doesn't even mention those tow filters. Need a number for the reverser filter also, the one on the bottom of the dozer.
