450C won't shut off

Post by psprague » Thu Sep 20, 2018 12:10 pm

I ran my 450c for about an hour yesterday and when I was done, It wouldn't shut down with key off. I gave it quick check, the power to the terminal on the injector pump went cold with key off. Also, there was no throttle response with the key off, it would only idle. It's kind of a loppy idle, bouncing around a bit more than it usually does. I removed the supply line to the lift pump and let it die.

I haven't done anything more so far but I'm guessing it's a stuck open roosa solenoid but no throttle response with the key off was weird. Any quick suggestions before I start taking the winch apart?*

My guess is you have something in your solenoid valve not quite letting it close all the way. It's closing it enough it can't throttle up but not enough to kill it. Hopefully it's not a piece of the governor ring.

Did you ever figure this out? Mine is doing the same thing? Can't figure out what solenoid I'm supposed to be looking for from reading the manual.

The fuel shutoff solenoid is inside the injection pump. Carefully consider your abilities before you decide to tear into the pump to fix it. You might be better served to have a pump shop go through it and get it refreshed and calibrated properly. If you decide to remove the pump there is a procedure to do it correctly. Do you have TM1102, the technical manual for the 450C?
