I am considering purchasing a JD 450B Crawler Loader. It'd need some work, but looks like a fun project.
However, it lacks a ROPS and I'd be using it in a heavily treed environment.
While I can weld, I don't trust my ability enough to put my life on the line.
Any suggestions for where I could pick up a ROPS for this?
I'm guessing the cheapest thing will be to find one at a tractor salvage yard... anyone know of a crawler tractor yard within a long day's drive of Seattle area?
Where to get a ROPS for a 450B? Salvage yard suggestions?

Welcome to the Boards.
While you are waiting for a good answer, I'll give you some thoughts. I am on the east coast so don't have any names in my pocket beyond suggesting you call Lavoy; he might have some thoughts. PartsASAP bought Yesterday's Tractor in Washington state, and PartsASAP operates some salvage yards. Have you done a web search for tractor salvage yards in Washington state? Calling some of them might get you the name of a yard that deals in crawlers/industrial equipment, even if they don't. Ask some local contractors and your JD Construction and Forestry dealer, they might know some names. Calling is best dealing with salvage parts as they generally don't list all their inventory online.
You will want the mounts and some pictures and dimensions, not just the upper structure. You will want the forestry sweeps as well if you are going to be in the trees with it.

Thanks Jim, that's a good plan of action.
A friend from church is the top Pape sales guy in the area, I didn't even think to call him until I read your post... but he sells Deere and he knows everybody in the business, so he may have some ideas too.
