350b no power to left track

Post by kylerfrank » Sat Aug 09, 2025 2:30 pm

Hi all, just brought home a 350b (74) changed all the fluids and had fuel issues to start off. This forum had all the answers there and it’s running like a top.
I have an issue now that I can’t nail down with no power to the left track. All ran great until about an hour in. Once it got hot no power on the left side. Found another thread mentioning a clutch adjustment. Went through all the steps from the manual and any advice I found online. No dice there. Prior to starting the adjustment I noticed the left side was extended quite a bit further than the right side. I took them back to even to start. Doesn’t seem to matter whether I adjust in or out now I’ve got no power on the left side. Any advice?

Welcome to the boards.

Is the steering clutch compartment clean, dry, and not oily?

What are you referring to when you say the left side was extended quite a bit more than the right side and that you took them back to even? The left steering clutch throw-out bearing?

Yes sir, all clean and dry. The yoke on the left power steering cylinder rear was extended about an inch further than the right. Also, the ball joint arm going to the throw out lever was extended a little further than the right. I took the left assembly and made it even with the right to start with. Tried that, no change. Followed the steps in the manual and adjusted to where I was just hitting the detent of the clutch and still nothing. Brake works fine and the track rolls fine, no noises or any thing like that.

Sounds like a collapsed pressure plate or badly worn clutch pack to me. Could be a combination of the two. Either way it means pulling it apart. I would say at some point whoever the owner was tried to compensate the adjustment by extending the yoke on that side.

I was really hoping not but I was thinking that direction. Thanks for the reply

It could be a broken axle or the splines are stripped in the clutch pack. But usually it will be a pressure plate that is stuck in the released position. The fact that your adjustments are way out of where they should start from indicates a pressure plate issue. You could jack this up and put it on blocks so you could let the machine idle in gear to see what that side is doing. But I think in the end you will need to pull the final and go inside to fix it. Sorry dude!!

I think I’ve tried everything I can think of I didn’t block it up and try yet. I’ll do that and see.
