Hydraulic question

Post by andyvt » Sun Sep 14, 2025 7:34 pm

I’m going to admit my ignorance of hydraulics .
I was warming up my 450C and was going through blade
operation and when I tilted the blade to the right, a hose blew out and sprayed fluid around.
My question is this: If I don’t use the tilt function will I be able to move the dozer out of the woods without continuing to lose fluid from the damaged hose?

Generally, yes as long as the valve spool is centered and blocking flow to either side on the tilt cylinder. Try it. You may see a little leakage if the valve is bypassing a little and some from the cylinder as the blade moves which it will not having oil held on both sides of the tilt cylinder piston.

Thanks for the reply. I’ll get around to testing it out after I finish my logging. Thankfully I can do most of the work with my tractor.
