right track quit working
Re: right track quit working
After tearing everything down the Threaded Does not require a plug , it is only there to release any pressure that get past the sealing rings. the ring manifold had a crack in it from someone over tightening the elbow for the pressure hose sometime in the past. I was able to find used parts since the drive shaft is no longer available. The hardest part was I had to cut the drive shaft because the splines were messed up and would not come through the inner hub of steering clutch. 2 carbide bits in reciprocating saw finally got the job done.
lots of little metal pieces to clean up. Thanks to Leonard and everyone that helped.
Re: right track quit working
finally got the correct parts after five weeks. when the shaft broke it messed up the inside of the steering clutch hub. supposedly the 450d hub and manifold are replacement for the 450c but they are Different. Yes it would Probably work BUT it doesn't have the seals like the 450c so I waited for the correct replacement parts. Upon clean up to reassemble I found one steering clutch fiber had the teeth broken out. Now I'm waiting on a steering clutch set. who ever said there is no such thing as a CHEAP crawler I wish you would have kept your mouth shut
Right now I'm a little frustrated but really am enjoying the challenge and looking forward to getting it back together and working it. Thanks to everyone who have helped me though this. Everything I got was the same but the threaded hole had a hose on it. Does anyone have ANY idea where that hose would have gone to. Again it was used parts Every thing is the same. pressure ports, sealing ring spacing. So I have no idea where the hose goes or went to. I'm leaving it out and will air check the clutch pack before closing up the steering clutch housing.

Hi,
That would be me. Multiple crawlers, one at a time mostly, and none of them cheap. Either Pay High for a good machine and pretty much just have it work. <OR> Pay Low for one and then watch the same amount of money a good one would have cost you dribble out of your wallet while you do a lot of hard work to boot....
It is in my tag line. It is actually swiped from TANSTAAFL. There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch.
