Help! Timing injector pump JD 350b dozer

Post by Jb800 » Sun Apr 19, 2015 5:07 pm

I think I screwed up! I'll start from the beginning. I have a '71 JD 350B dozer that I have started in 3+ years. When I put it in the garage, I ran fine but had a hydrolic leak so I haven't used it. I couldn't get it started and we determined that the injector pump was varnished from fuel sitting in it. Fuel to the pump but nothing coming out. On this pump, the gear stays in and the pump comes off. Well I removed the injector pump bolts and pulled pump off then realized I didn't mark the pump to engine. I put it right back on and the turned engine at flywheel to line up marks in pump window. I'm sending pump out to be rebuilt. When I reinstall, how do I retime the engine? Will it even start? It should be close. If it does start, can I adjust it by listening to the engine? Appreciate any advise on what to do. Thanks
