450 hydraulic leak
450 hydraulic leak
I have a 450 loader, I was cutting in a road through the woods and all the sudden lost loader hydraulics. When I got off fluid was pouring out from under the engine, around the middle of the machine. It is parked on a hill with the front end up, so it could be coming from the front (that's where the pump is right?) Any ideas how or where to start? Its deep in the woods so will probably have to be fixed there.
When you say you lost hydraulics, do you mean the loader hydraulics or the HLR transmission? They are separate hydraulic systems. I am guessing you mean that you lost the HLR but want to confirm.

That's kind of what I thought, it hasn't been worked hard in a while, today was the first day. What does replacing/repairing that line entail? I assume belly pan has to come off? Sounds like i need to empty the bucket with the backhoe and drive it out onto level ground.jtrichard wrote:Sounds like you lost the pressure line from the loader pump
Chances are that your line has rubbed on the frame or the like and will need welding or replacing. I replaced one with flexible hose and cut the metal one into pieces to get it out rather than take all the covers off.

Yes the belly pan will come off.
My 450c Has a junction point about half way back on the loader. My leak was up front in the nose area. I pulled the nose and the belly pan and was able to get a new braided hydraulic hose to replace that section.
When my leak started it was small enough I was able to braze the hole shut enough I could use the loader. I loaded it up took it to the hydraulic shop and they charged me $140 for the hose and 60 to install.
I don't think you'll have the good fortune.

I used the hydraulic hose to fix this instead of trying to snake a hard line in. Only thing I would change is to maybe use a piece of hard line to get from the valve body for the loader to right under the seat and then switch over to hose, a 1" I.D. hose doesn't not bend well and it is a bit of a push to get it turned up into the valve bodyferroequinologist wrote:I am glad I was digging through the recent threads.
I just finished a road job for a friend, and noticed a hydro leak in the same location as mentioned here. I know now what to look at first, probably saving me lots of time.
Love this forum! really helps to keep the old girl going.
