350c reverser accumulator

Was repairing the reverser for this 350c and while I had it out I figured I would clean up the accumulator. I see it has been out before and I have owned this since 1990 and it is a 1985 model and has always run great. No problems shifting or anything. While I was checking the accumulator I found the relief valve check ball was not reinstalled. Is there a reason they would have not reinstalled this ball? Thanks,Ken
