Ok, I know I have a 350. Yes and I know that it is most likely a straight 350 being as that the reverser control is on the left dash and that it has dry clutches. It also has power steering a hydraulic 6-way inside blade, and a nice diesel power plant.
However, I have no records on the machine and there is NO serial tag below the seat. There is a small oval tag that bears the numbers "0185". That is it.
Am I SOL or is there a way to figure out a year and serial???
Please help a guy out!!!

Hi,
No, there isn't another serial number anywhere. You can't get to a specific year without it, either. The best you can do is narrow it down to a range by using the parts manual and look at items which underwent a design change. Those are shown in the diagrams, and are listed by the serial number break points.
The missing tag usually means one of two things. One: The machine itself was stolen at some point. Or, more likely, two: Someone else had a stolen machine and needed a good tag to obtain parts from Deere. When machines are still fairly new, you need to provide your serial number to buy parts. These are so old, no one is checking them any longer.
That little oval tag is probably some company's internal asset trackkng tag from long ago.
