Back hoe for a 350

Post by speedbear » Fri May 22, 2015 8:27 pm

After reading about how over bearing a factory JD back hoe setup is on a 350, I was wondering if anyone ever tried attaching a back hoe from a skid steer. Being it would be smaller & lighter, I'm quite sure the 350 could handle it. Opinions?

years ago i put a Massey hoe on an old 310 case and i am about to put a 480 case hoe on my 2010 loader i would think a skid hoe would be just fine on a treefitty i believe both would be OPEN CENTER valves
2010 with 622 dozer with mod. 35 ripper and a 2010 with 622 dozer bought in 1969 and a 2010 loader with drott and mod. 36 ripper

I have a 450 with a hoe hanging on the back, & it struggles. My 350 has a winch mounted on the rear, so I know it has a PTO available.

Backhoe Options

We like the full sized 9550's on loader 350's, but when you get into a dozer they are just to heavy for anything but digging.

We have went thru a number of different smaller hoe attachments and now using a case hoe off a trencher, I believe it's a D125 (860 case trencher). It's on a 350C widepad dozer and works well. We installed a loader hydraulic pump and using the factory diverter setup. The hoe has stood up well and has enough power to push the machine forward and side to side.

Key to mounting is to get them as low and close to the machine as possible. I would say we have done at least 5 of them in the past 5 years.

Previously had smaller ditch witch and case hoes mounted and they didn't work as well. We buy lots of trenchers for wrecking and the hoes are always an easy sell. Have 3 in stock now, but I'm along ways away from you.

Not sure on the PTO comment, all hoes I have seen are powered off the front mount hydraulic pump.

Backhoes for a 350

Post by NWJD fan » Sat May 23, 2015 2:42 am

I have one of the Case trencher hoes that Jason and his Dad modified to fit a 350 and I like it much better than the JD 92 hoe it replaced as it is probably 500 or more pounds lighter. It has good digging power and will dig to 8 feet deep and my 350 behaves much better when packing it around. With the old hoe my front end would lift climbing quite gentle inclines. The trencher hoe is actually a model 762. The D125 was used on 660 and smaller trenchers and some skid steers as well and is quite a bit smaller than the 762.

Jason, would you have any pics of the setup/attachments. This sounds just like my kind of project. I'd like to rig it, so I can detach like my 450 hoe

Hi,

Anyone ever fit the 51 slider hoe from the 440 series on the 350? That always seemed like a slick hoe to have....

I believe from previous threads that Jdemaris had also converted hoe models from other manufacturers to fit on JD crawlers. You do have to make sure they are open center for the earlier crawlers.
(1) JD Straight 450 crawler dozer with manual outside blade; (2) JD 2010 diesel crawler loaders; (1) JD 2010 diesel dozer with hydraulic 6-way blade; (2) Model 50 backhoe attachments, misc. other construction equipment
