350C track tensioners/ radiator hose questions
350C track tensioners/ radiator hose questions
Greets, I am becoming responsible for one that is used on family farm and I have a few questions.
Where do I locate the serial number to find the exact model? Its a diesel.
How do the track tensioners work when they are working correctly? On this one when you put grease in them it just squirts out the seal at the piston and doesn't hold the tracks tight- there has been some rebar welded to hold them apart far enough to use. What is involved in rebuilding these?
The lower radiator hose has a crack in it, under normal idle it is fine but as soon as you start working it, it starts loosing coolant. I can't even see the clamp where it goes into the radiator, how is it accessed from below or from the side panel?
I don't know how to post photos here. https://goo.gl/photos/1x9UbjW7wGfphzt98
Thanks!

I looked at your photo and there is little to no adjustment left in that track. As well as adjusters it looks like you will likely need new track chains. The pins wear and the track gets longer. Take some closer photos of the undercarriage and we will be able to tell you more. The 350c is a nice crawler and is easy to get parts for.

On that rad hose, the whole nose tips forward. It is heavy so be extra careful. You have to remove bolts at the lower front first. look it over carefully before you start !

Hi,
The serial number tag is on the upper front of the seat frame, behind your leg when you are sitting on the machine. There is another tag on the loader frame but that is just for the loader (because the loader or bulldozer are attachments to the crawler).
It is probably not a 350C. People always seem to use 350C decals on 350 and 350B machines. There are significant differences between the B and the C, such as going from dry to wet steering clutches.
When you find the s/n, you need this link:

This one helps understanding u/c wear:

Not hard to rebuild, you will need to take them apart to see which style seal you have, but that is it. It is also possible that you have them out so far that the seal is getting to the edge of the barrel, then a seal will not help.

Hi,
And, they look like they are out that far, too. If so, then that means it is time for a u/c renewal. And, loaders wear everything faster than dozers, so a renewal is probably all the track parts, not just the pins and bushings in the chains....

Hi,
Yeah, the rails are all the way to...gone. As are the sprockets. And, the front idler looks pretty well gone, too. Can't see the rollers, but I have to say that their wear surfaces have to be to the point where you just put in ten new ones. This would be why the tensioners blow out the grease and need bars to hold them out far enough that the rails don't flop right off onto the ground.

Not terrible to come by, sometimes supply is sporadic. Off the cuff guess for what you need, in the $4500 range for new rails, pads, sprockets, rollers, upper idlers. Not sure on front idlers, last price I had on them was utterly stupid.

Idlers ridiculous, the rest is reasonable
Last quote we received was 1,100 per idler. This is about double from a couple years ago. I have stopped selling used idlers in case we need them on out own machines or rebuild projects.
The rest of the undercarriage components are very reasonable in my opinion.
