final drive gear 350 stright

Post by gerald » Mon Jun 22, 2015 6:50 am

The final drive gear on my 350 has a lot of movement enough where its rubbing a 2 inch grove making metal in it the pan . The seals where not leaking when I took a part . It was doing that 3 years ago when I rebuilt the clutches and replaced the pinon gear. should I shim the pan ?

Seals have nothing to do with gear movement, no I would not shim the pan, there has to be something wrong. Find out why the gear is loose and fix that first.

I looked at the bull gear and found the gear sliding on the splined shaft. I thank the previous owners for got to put a washer in. I left it to run that way. I don't have the tools to fix it or wait for seals . It turns like a top. thank you Levoy I bought the clutches 4 years ago and they look very good.
