jd 350 engine

Post by Injoeu » Tue Oct 20, 2015 3:24 pm

I posted this yesterday and somehow it got on the late model forum. My 350 just through a rod. It made one 2"by5 hole in the side and another on on the bottom. I am going to replace the whole engine, it's a diesel. What research I have had little time to do I have found them on broken tractors website. But the price is right around $5700 plus another $1000 for the core. That is only one I have found. If I can find a used one that was significantly cheaper then I would entertain the idea. Only issue with a used one is am I going to run into this again shortly down the road? At least with the rebuilt its piece of mind.

Where are you located? There may be options, but they only make sense if the shipping/pickup makes sense.

It got on the late model forum because it belongs on the late model forum. Late model forum is for 350 and later.

do you have any idea why it let go, I would try and make sure it doesn't happen again.
any idea how many hours your engine had when it let go?
you have a few options to get your machine going again.

complete used....there are still lots of them around, you won't know what you're getting.

rebuilt short block....pricey but better chance of engine giving you lasting service.

rebuild yourself...if you have the time and know how you can get a good block, sleeve kit and gasket set, valve job etc, use your other engine parts have a fresh engine.
still gets expensive but you will know what you have.

if you have lots of money you may still be able to get a JD rebuild or even new.
