JD 450 Right Track Won't Turn

Post by b_ware60 » Sat Jan 30, 2016 10:24 pm

I have a 1970's model JD 450. The right track does not turn. I dug the bucket into the ground and lifted the front end of the crawler up. This allowed the left track to just spin while the right track did nothing. I opened the panels under the seat and nothing is turning on the right side. The clutches were replaced on the right side last year. I thought that maybe the track disengaging adjustment screw needed tweaked, but this was not the case. The track did not quite all at once. It slowly stopped working. This leads me to believe that an axle may be stripped out. Any suggestions?

Axle stripped would be all at once ....The clutch is slipping most likely ..check for free play on the lever/throw-out bearing and see if there is any pressure created by the pressure plate on the clutch pack (plate probably was never adjusted right) .... When "nothing" is turning in the steering clutch box look at the center hub and i bet it is turning
