Update...I did notice that when I pull either steering lever, the brake is stuck in the "engaged" mode and doesn't move all, almost like they are seized on the brake mode..I pulled rops off now removing fuel tank and battery compartment and hydraulics

I made some progress in taking stuff apart. Looks like my brake linings are good. I have about 3/16" lining on each side. My theory on what I think happened....The machine is new to me (2 weeks), I have no contact with previous owner, so can't pick his brain about any maintenance. Brake levers were stuck all the way down near steering housing, as if brakes were being applied and also where the steering levers are. So when I pull back on steering lever, there is no change in braking, its not moving at all because bushing where steering lever is is seized on both. Im guessing it hadnt been used in a while and the PO used it, brakes locked up and then they used the brake steering band adjustment nut to loosen up brake bands and not have any steering..thats my theory?? So other than having some milky oil is this normal?

Yes, where does the water come in from? Thru top plate when it rains? Can I put J20A equivalent in there?

Now would be the time to decide if you want to do a common sump conversion. I believe you are correct in your theory. Non-use is a terrible thing on a machine, people included. Bruce

What are the benefits to doing a common sump conversion? What are the consequences if I leave it the same? Is there another thread describing the conversion..from what I looked up, it seems confusing to do

Thanks! Do you happen to know what size the drain plugs are for the steering clutch housing..I thought it was a 3/8" ratchet head, but I'm wrong..I ended up pumping all fluids out, but I still want to free up drain plug..also brakes were way too loose, I got them to engage by tightening actuator..Is this the right way, I'm pretty sure my clutch levers are adjusted properly..I figured I get them snug, but free enough for drum to spin, then I can drive and adjust from the outside plug????

If square then most likely 1/2" ....As for adjustment all I can say is follow the book to a "T"
