3 point hitch 350's
I would think these would be very hard to come by in mint condition as anyone purchased would be used for 3 point hitch work and worked hard. Mine mostly likely was a government machine and had a fire plow on it.
I think it has only 4,000 original hours and is in generally good shape. It's the only one I have seen in person and have been watching for the past 10 years. Looking forward to trying out the rough cut more I recently purchased (430 wheel tractor being used right now) 350D machines are also very scarce in Western Canada.
I have a beautiful 350C in very original condition, no canopy and 80% undercarriage or better and looking to get 15K CAD. Probably original paint in good condition and all gauges original and functioning. As it's so nice I won't be moving on this price and will wait as long as it takes. I may steal the instrument cluster off it for my own machine.

Hi,
There is an implement shop not too far away from me, where they build things if they don't already offer them. They have a Cat-II/III scarifier meant for machines with downpressure. So, built heavier than the typical box blade.
I asked for a quote for one modified to attach suitcase weights so it can be heavier than the stock 800 pounds. I have this idea I might be able to load it to 1200 pounds and then use my load and draft control. This way, I can use the tractor instead of a crawler.

I must say Stan, right now there is a 770 John Deere Grader working the road outside my house and while the good book with very thin pages says "not to covet", I must admit that I am lusting greatly for it.
Do you think I could convince the wife I need a grader? I broached the subject this morning.
Equipment Ownership: a slippery slope!

I have no intention of traveling to my grave in a well manicured body; instead I am going to slide into heaven with a big power turn, totally wore out with busted knuckles, jump off my dozer loudly yelling, Woo Hoo, another Shepard has just arrived!

Hi,
Lord knows, I am always telling my wife that I need a grader! She keeps telling me that I do not need one, though! :p

Hi,
Hmmmm. So. How do we plan the use of the grader for the growing of her gourds??

I used the 6 way blade of my bulldozer in our home garden to make the potato mounds, angling and tilting the blade in one direction, then going the other way for the form the hump. It worked, but even I admit it was a bit overkill.
Just tell her in California they have irrigation ditches and your Gourds would grow 20% better with irrigation. You naturally would need a grader to form those ideal irrigation ditches.
I must admit that my wife is really good. We built a sheep barn before she had her new kitchen, something she waited 5 years for. And the bulldozer I bought cost twice as much as her Ford Focus, and the Wallenstein Log Trailer cost more than our Ford Explorer. She is pretty good in allowing me to buy what I do, but a John Deere 770 CH grader might be at the limit of her rational thinking. (We buy used cars and not new)
I did momentarily think about rushing the cab and taking out the guy. I am not very big, but I think I would have had the advantage from my surprise attack. However, I think the bible discourages such acquisitions however.

Hi,
Well, the dozer or grader used for making the hills for the gourds won't work. That job is done nicely with my 1950 M wheel tractor with disc hillers on the mounted cultivator rig. Old school.
We need to install a 6 foot fence around the gourd patch to keep the deer out. They never bothered them before, but this year they like them.
Can't figure out how to use a grader for that. The 5103 runs the post hole digger, and I use a hook atop the 420c dozer blade to anchor the comealong to stretch the fence. So, I have that covered even though a grader would also make for a nice self propelled anchor.

Have to laugh at your prescience. I have a Toyota PU with a 22r engine that ran well "except for this knock" for multiple years. I finally took it apart a few years ago and found a spun bearing. In working on this problem, I expanded into a new water pump, timing belt and tensioner, and other ancillary "need to dos". Still in the scheme of things, the cost to fix was not that great, and the truck is still running strong. So now, that grader sound like a bargin, "just needs a little work" Best regards. Jeesh Princeton, MN...my old stomping grounds from my old railroading days. Only 1640 miles from home, but who is counting? (Actually I was, I got paid mileage back then when I went back and forth between Maine and MN).
I knew a guy in town that scrapped his old Western-Austin when prices for scrap iron shot up. I would have liked to had it.
Around here you can buy logging equipment cheap! In traveling from Maine to VT to see PondHogVT in Vermont, I counted 10 feller-bunchers for sale and their accompanying pieces of artillery (skidders, delimbers, etc). Its getting pretty bad with the paper mill closures and with so many private logging roads up north, its just a matter of time before graders start showing up on the for sale list for cheap.

I'm with you Paul. I got a few knocks on this old body myself, but I hope to get a few more years out of it.Paul Buhler wrote:Have to laugh at your prescience. Toyota's are tough. I heard a dealer bought one back and put it on display in his dealership...the only pickup known to go 1,000,000 miles!!
