Working on my basket case 350B dozer and trying to figure out what parts I'm missing. I haven't figured out what kind of mount(s) are use on the front of the engine. Can someone tell me or show me what and/or how the front of the engine is mounted? I can't believe it's just dangled by four bolts at the rear. Thanks,gregjo1948

Yes the engine dangles on those 4 bolts along with the radiator and hydraulic pump which are mounted on a sub frame on the front of the engine. You can access the parts manuals for free online through the John Deere website to get a better idea of what you are dealing with.

I checked out the parts on the JD site and couldn't find anything for mounting the engine, pump, and radiator that I don't already have. I thought you might be kidding me about the engine hanging by those four bolts. I can imagine driving off a bank or over a log and slamming down hard on the front idlers and snapping the bolts. I know I shouldn't do that but, when I get tired and a little careless, S--T happens. Thank you for the info,gregjo1948

Hi,

The engine in a crawler is under less strain dangling from the rear bolts than it is in a wheel tractor where it forms the only load path for whatever the front wheels bound across...thru those same rear bolts!

When you slam a crawler down on the idlers, the most likely thing to get busted is...the idlers...

Never gave that a thought but, now that I have, you are certainly right. Just when I'm sure that I know everything, I learn more, and now I probably do know it all!!! gregjo1948
