straight 450 loader

Post by SCOTT61 » Sat Feb 25, 2017 6:36 pm

hello, I wanted to know how I can tell if this machine has had the hlr safety update,as per what I read on them going into reverse on their own. this 450 was sand blasted and painted and I had read that there was a sticker put on them when this update was done.is there another way that shows this update.

Transmission Safety

The shift plate should be ground so the 4 speed lever shifts slightly ahead of 3 gear. Always verify the 4 speed is in neutral before getting off a running machine by shifting the HLR into gear and releasing the clutch. When the shift linkages wear you can shift the 4 speed to neutral but still be in gear.

I was just pushing a 420 rebuild project into the shop with our 450c yard loader and 1/10 of the time I get off it running the 4 speed is in gear when I test it.

On older machines I shift to a neutral position between 2nd and 3rd gear.

We give everyone that comes to our place and demos a for sale 450 the same advice, including only starting the machine if your sitting on the seat.

Thankyou for the information JWB,our two boys, that are men now work on the farm also, they are men now lol age 32 and 33,i want them to be informed of this potential hazard, with worn linkages and the possible chance it could slip into gear on its own.we will go over the 450 when it gets here,in a few weeks,we get used to all the safety built into the new machines around the farm, thanks again for your help,[img][img]
