550 Question
I have a 1983 550. On the dash panel, there is an indicator light on the right side that the parts manual calls a "filter bypass indicator". The light comes on sometimes from half throttle and up. Does anyone have any idea which filter is being bypassed? And what might be causing it? Thanks.

Perhaps in needs cleaning or replacing due to too much air intake restriction.

I thought that had to with the Hydraulics, basically telling you the filter was clogged up. I thought the air cleaner was covered under the air cleaner restriction which was more like the clear tube with with the reset button on the end.
On my 450c manual it says " A pressurized reservoir and spin-on hydraulic oil return filter are used on later unites> A filter bypass valve is used in the filter base and will bypass unfiltered oil to the reservoir if the filter becomes plugged. When the filter is plugged , an electrical filter restriction indicator will activate a light on the dash."
