Replacing JD350C track adjusters

Post by Nut4Trucks » Sun Mar 26, 2017 11:51 am

So I have old adjusters completely compressed, rear spring removed and idler pulled all the way forward. I have a new set of adjusters from Lavoy. The only way I can see these coming out is in two pieces, is the the right way to do this? Do I also disassemble the new adjuster assemblies and put them in the same way as two pieces? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

You need to split the track to get them in.

Lavoy,
Is there really any reason that I could not just disassemble the adjuster and slide it in in two pieces? It seems to me the they are made to me assembled and rebuilt with a seal kit and put back together. As long as I am careful what is the drawback? I understand breaking track is a real pain on these machines. Thanks for your reply.

Difficult at best to get the piston in while the track adjuster is out and on the bench. Plus, pretty sure the only way it comes out without splitting the track is torch.
