550h LT Front Idler issues

Post by AUtreeman » Tue Aug 08, 2017 1:34 pm

I have a 2003 JD 550h LT that is having some track tension problems. What I know currently is that the front idler assembly (AT416907) is about to be replaced for the third time since my organization has owned it. The universal driveshaft has sheared in two, and caused the idler to wobble against the bracket and flange out. As a result the track will no longer hold tension (I'm sure you know this but felt like I would give current conditions). During the lifetime of the previous repair I had to replace bolts on the C-frame from them being sheared off. This time, there was only 140 hours put on it since we took it to the dealership to be replaced. This dozer is used for wildfire firefighting. It is in no way abused in use, but it does go through non-typical landscapes. I assume there is some sort of underlying issue, but I know not where to look... Any help would greatly be appreciated. Also, if needed I can attach pictures of the damage.
