Repairing Steering Lever

Post by karbuf » Tue Sep 05, 2017 8:42 pm

I'm trying to tighten up the lever action on my steering levers of my 450B-A... I've got new bushings and pins for the levers, but the small hole for the pin has worn out..

I'm thinking about welding the hole shut and redrilling the holes. Has anyone addressed this before?

Can I mig weld it? Do I need to heat treat it? Is there another way to do this, like inserting a bushing?

Here are links to pics:

I welded up both of mine with the mig welder also the clevis holes to take out all the play. It's a little hard to drill out after tho.

I also drilled and tapped holes for grease fittings where the bushings go.

That's a great idea on putting in the grease fittings. The clevis' look good on mine. Do you remember what size drill bit for drilling the pin holes back out?
