I found the 3325 listed in the parts book. Jdpc.com. I don't see why a 3315 would not work. Bruce

Hi, only the 3325 winch will work on a 400G.... when they went to the 400, jd put the newer tranny so it is center mounted pto-winch drive just like a 450,, all 350models have a off-set pto same as the 3315 winch.

I have a rebuilt 3325 winch for sale if Lavoy doesn't have one.. best to please contact him first.. it is totally rebuilt,, bearings seals, clutches and steels, and brake band,, even the winch drum big bearings and seals...

the problem you will face is the 400G requires special mounting brackets,, so it would be best for you to find a 400G winch.. I suspect those are extremely expensive at deere if even available.., goodluck Mark.

Pondhogvt- will a 3315 work, if the input shaft is cenetered and he is able to find the special mounts? The reason i ask is because i rebuilt my 3315 last winter (down to the bare case) and it has a centered shaft and is on a 450c. Bruce

if it is a centered shaft it is not a 3315.... 3325 fits 400g period..with correct brackets.. mark.

Thanks for all of the input. I have a winch lined up but im wondering where I could find these special mounts? or I may have to machine my own. now I know why I don't see many of these 400g with winches on them...lol

I suspect it will be like finding a hen's tooth balancing on a unicorn horn. The mounts usually stay with the winch and vice verse.

Check with Lavoy(here through email or PM), list a WTB ad here, check with Mother Deere, SEWL(Schaefer Equipment of Wolf Lake, IL), j-kequipment(they mainly do forrestry/skidders-but worth a check), ebay, "searchtempest.com" (combine online searches to one site), any other secondary market sources like heavy equipment junk yards and aftermarket suppliers.

Wish you the best, Bruce

Thank you for the info. There is no tag on the winch, and it has the spool type valve. In addition to your help, i looked up part numbers on the jdpc web site. I could only find the spool valve diagram on the 350c section. I mistakenly thought I had a 3315, i now realize I have a 3325 that had a rotary valve that was replaced with a spool valve.

sounds like you have a good set-up and just need the brackets,, I prefer the spool valve controller to the rotary,, very simple and about fool proof.. I have been studying this set-up .. I thought if I made the brackets it would give me a market to sell more winches,, I gave up because there are not enough 400G's out there,, and so I have been putting my efforts into converting 3325 winches to the 450,550 and 650G models.. their winches are vary expensive and hard to find..
I think I can make the 3325 fit with custom brackets and pto,, still working on it..

A couple years ago I found a 400G with the winch, and the owner let me take a bunch of picture so I could make my own brackets.. I cannot post pics to this site easily so I never learned how to do it.. the 400g factory bracket is not what you might think,, it is not a nice molded cast bracket.. it looks like one of us made it out of thick steel plate and angle Iron.. My e-mail is.... pondhogvt@gmail.com

send me an e-mail and I can send the pictures directly to you..

looks fairly simple actually... I just never had a 400g to make my initial pattern,, looks like you make a piece of steel with the bolts holes for the dozer side.. then make one with correct bolt holes for the winch.. then put a piece in between for the correct spacing to mount the winch to the coupler... then weld the spacer one to the dozerone and the winch one..

they will be offset like on a 450dozer because the 400g is wider then a 350.. the 350 brackets are straight in line with the winch housing.. so it looks like they used big angle iron to get the offset on the dozer side.. good luck , Mark.
