In trying to find out the wear of chains, I only see references to guying the proper gauge to figure it out. Why is this? I have seen it enough times that i believe there must be some truth to it.. but cant figure out what the difference is in finding doing measurements and going from there. Again, the concept is what I am after.
I am putting this entry in both the later and older model forums, as I can't see the concept being much different, and that I have both a 350 and a 420.

Re: concept of track wear
Hi,
It is the best paper on the subject I have come across. Of course, one has to ignore several Dresser specific things, and also several newer items as well (because the old iron is, well, old!). But within are all sorts of applicable pieces of information on how all these parts wear upon each other.
It takes a lot of measuring to truly figure out wear.
