Back hoe attachment

Post by Will1020 » Wed Nov 01, 2017 9:06 am

Hello all I've been searching before what back goes fit my 450b. I seen one post that led me to a 9550. Is that the only choice? What else mite I need to hook it up?

Any Deere backhoe designed for a Deere crawler will fit. Best model is the 9550 as it is lighter than the 9300 or 9310. We prefer the models with dual swing cylinders Vs the swing box on the 9300. There are lots of older models as well.

We have also done conversions on a variety of Case backhoes including a 580 and a few mid sized ones off of trencher.

I bought a brand new unused Cat hoe in pieces that was cut off a loader backhoe. Maybe next summer I'll get to converting it to fit a Deere. Would work great on the back of our 455G.

Ok great, Being a mechanic nothing now a days is interchangeable like that on cars etc. I'll start searching for a hoe. I've read some posts somewhere saying something about a plate or something I might need. All I know now is mine has a ball hitch on it

You will need to find a set of hoe hooks. They are specific to 450 / 550 crawlers built before 88.

Ok thank you. I did a quick search and saw a plate with hooks at bottom and pins at top. I'll try to visit local equipment places to see if they stock anything... I'm a bit ahead of the game I must say. I need to fix the clutches and hydraulic pump first!! It looks like I can get parts through this site by reading some of the posts...

I do not know how far you want to travel to get a hoe but there is a 350B with I think a 9300 hoe for sale in Donegal, Pa on Craigslist Pittsburgh. I went to look at it a month or 2 ago and the 350 has the normal clutch issues and the hoe was very much to heavy for the 350. The hoe needs hoses and has a chunk out of the bucket but otherwise looked OK. I do not know if the backhoe brackets from a 350 will work on the 450 but someone on this site probably does. I would be possibly be interested in the 350 if you are interested in the hoe. He is asking $6,000 for both which I think is high for a 350 with clutch issues. If anyone on the site has an idea of value that might be helpful.

Ok let's pursue this if ok with you. I'll start another thread and ask is the 350 stuff will work. I don't need the 350 for sure.

I have a 9300 back hoe on my 450C track loader. The machine is very tail heavy with the hoe on the back. The hoe is a brute, will dig almost anything. There are 2 different hydraulic pumps for the machine the larger one is if you have the back hoe. You will need the mounting adapter and the bottom mount counterweight along with the hydraulic hoses looping out the back. The back hoe equipped machines also have 2 piece belly pans.

Good luck in your quest.

It appears 2 members think the 9300 is to heavy for the 450 and that is what the owner of the 350 with hoe says the model is so you should probably look for the lighter model that someone mentioned. I had also sent you a private message that says you should sort out your steering issue before looking for a hoe.

Is your 450 a loader or a dozer? All loaders are equipped to mount hoe brackets. Manual out side dozers require additional mounting brackets to install hoe brackets and hydraulic power/angle/tilt (PAT) dozers require a specific dozer mount to accept hoe brackets. The hoe brackets for a 350 will not work on a 450. Most Deere backhoe attachments are considered to be heavy for a 350 but work well weight wise with 450's.

many years ago my dad had a 350 loader with a hoe and he dug many a foundation with the machine, it was totally rear heavy and put a ton of pressure on the final drives of the machine.
he would dig the hole, foundation would be poured and he would remove the hoe to backfill and grade.
later on he got a 450 loader with hoe and it did much better, it handled the hoe outback pretty well.
I can remember the rotary swing valve being on the workbench more than once and a new one being bought as well, a hoe with the swing cylinder setup is much more dependable if you can find one.....not sure if you can even get parts or repair a rotary valve at this point.
450 with hoe is a pretty cool setup.....you want to do hoe work have at it, don't need the hoe for a while remove it.....they do get light in the rear for loader work with hoe off but just using the machine for yourself your fine
