hi, after searching for two months i finally bought 2 450 crawlers. one i believe is a striaght 450 and the other is a 450c. the 450c runs good, but wont move almost acts like something between the motor and tranny came disconnected. the 450 is missing part of the motor, but otherwise looks to be in good condition. i was wondering if the final drives and housings off the 450c would fit on the straight 450 so that i could have wet steering clutches on it. thanks

digitup, i dont have them home yet, but i will check that and do a pressure test on it when i do. i was told its about 6k to rebuild the tranny, so i am trying to avoid that if i can. it was really raining last saturday when i went to look at them so i didnt have much time to look at them.
is it possible though to switch everything over and make it work?
also wodering when they moved the HLR to the left side next to the 4 speed shifter.
thank you

450 to 450c
Those are two different machines in the drives and finals department . You can rebuild the power shift clutches for a lot less than that .Take them out your self and do it .Watch how you take it apart put in new plates and ceramics .Its not that hard use a straight edge to check the plates .If the plates are flat and smooth then just buy the ceramics. Years ago when I only had one dozer my 450B refused to move one spring after a long winter vacation .I pulled the transmision top off and a snapring holding the forward reverse clutch together had poped out I put that together and never had a problem after with it .Maby check that but like I said before you buy make shure that the seller nows that you are not paying his price for a machine that dosent drive right. If he cant get it working than its not worth mutch to him .I will never sell a machine that dosent run good. But I dont pay more than half price for anything that wont get on the float in any gear without hesitating [SP] or sliping the clutches.and I have bought lots that I had the backhoe to pull them on then I came back for hoe later .Yes two trips but I saved on the purchace price .I rebuilt all clutches in a 550A one spring and I paid 4000 bucks less than the hydro company in my area paid for the same 550A with just two bad clutches in it . Its not that hard .Digitup.
Moved shifter to the left !
The 450B was the first with it on the left side. so the next modle after the 450 they moved it .Digitup.

hi digitup, the owner found the bill of sale for the non running one and said its a 450B. they should be showing up tomorrow or tuesday. its looking like i am going to rebuild the 450c. i have a friend that said he could rebuild the clutch packs. also i did some research on jdparts.com and finals and steering clutch housings are different. i have all winter to work on them so i figured switching finals and steering clutch housings would be a lot easier than swapping the loader and 6way if they would fit. thanks for your help

So you got a B and aC they are easyer two get parts for
The C and D modles are the only ones that come close in the rearend and finals department and the loader is different than the dozer again so verry litle will cross fit on those two machines even if one is a 450B .the B is a 4-219 and theC is a 4-239 motor verry similar motors but not much else is the same inside even the gear ratio is different .The six way blade is worth more also .
