Brake adjustment JD350

Post by gcgrant » Sat Mar 17, 2018 7:09 pm

Have both finals pulled to replace brake bands and adjust clutches on my 350. Have only one band, other coming from supplier. Reinstalled one side and tightened up the adjuster bolt, seems the bolt runs out of thread before the band is tight enough. Not having done this before, I'm wondering if, with the other band in place and the foot brake hooked up, will this apparent slack go away?

No. You have some other problem. Consult the parts book (PC 921) on the John Deere parts website for a schematic (serial number dependent).

back to the drawing board!!

Is this brake band new....or able to use the old brake band?....Did you compare it to the old brake band. Need a bit more info as to what circumstances involved.

I got the reconditioned band from a used tractor parts dealer. No I was not able to compare bands, I had shipped off my cores to be re lined. I have to assume it may have been mislabelled. Are all 350 bands the same size?
Or could it be from a 450?
I guess I'm going to have to wait for the other rebuilt band to see how they compare. Unfortuneatly the one side is buttoned back up! Track not back on yet though.

a bit late but, really you should check all parts with the owner of this board....Lavoy...he has many parts on hand and prices really are reasonable for the exact part that you need...and lots of the guys on this site also have parts that may well be available....phone number is listed i think in the parts forum as well as email address and of course always is pm messages....

you will probably get an answer insofar as are all 350s the same,,,from someone else...i have a jd440ic..

also...if it will not adjust..you will have to get it back out.....i think with front cover off you can replace the brake band...and at least see what problem looks like...being you don't have track on.
