Hydraulic oil sight glass

Post by kodiakman178 » Sat Mar 24, 2018 2:37 pm

Just brought home my first dozer 1977 450c. Machine is in great shape w only 2550 hrs. The hydraulic oil sight glass is covered in crud on the inside. Has anyone replaced this or removed and cleaned it before? I tried to remove the screws that hold it in place but feels like I will strip the flat head right off? Any suggestions would be great, thanks.

I have cleaned mine and replaced the rubber gasket. It was very rewarding.

Not much for advice. Sometimes tightening before loosening is helpful. No heat secondary to glass. Worse comes to worse you drill them out. Bruce

Have had good luck using Freeze Off on small screws like those
